I bow down before you
though I don’t know if you really exist
I prostrate myself before you
searching for redemption
seeking guidance and peace
Is it faith
Is it belief
Is it habit
Do I believe in you as
the Omni present being?
I do not know.
Yet I call your name
for solace
for comfort
for protection
I invoke the power of the word “GOD”
but is there any deeply held belief behind it?

A lost young man
stands on a cliff
shaking his fist
at a midnight sky
Screaming at the moon
“Why hast thou forsaken me!?”
Looking at the world
with an old man’s eye
the young one sees
the hypocrisy of life
That others pass by
and his faith is shaken.
Evangelists talking to God
In motel rooms
People – homeless and starving
on every street corner
Faceless to the masses.
Millions of people
killed and enslaved
by an occupying thousand
Rock throwing children
cut down by
plastic bullets
Too many injustices for one
young as he
to witness and not
wonder
Why?
So anger turns to
frustration
and
depression
Another soul in turmoil
and the blame goes to God.
The answer is quite simple
Why to we forsake ourselves?
We hold the power within
to change the world
In all of the books that we
use to justify our behavior
one phrase is lost
Do unto others
God – no matter His name
is
God
Follow His words as
you know them.
If we could do that
this truly would be
Heaven on Earth.
