How do I form the words
to tell you all that I hold in my heart
When I don’t recognize the feelings?
To tell you I love you
does not begin to describe
what passes through me
when I hear your voice.
To tell you I miss you
does not convey
the depth of the loss
I feel when we part
To tell I want to be
with you always
is to put a limit
a destination
to something that
seems to have no end
How do I form the words
to tell you that
I have been waiting
for you all of my life
How do I justify
such a feeling
without feeling
weak
as though
I am losing
my independence?
How do I feel all of this
for you and not lose myself?

When all that you have buried
begins to break the surface
When all of your ghosts
come back to haunt you
when even the softest voice
hurts your ears and bruises your soul
and words have lost their meaning
I will still be here.
In my arms
you will find everything
your wounded heart needs to hear
In my touch your will find
warmth that speaks of love
In my embrace you will find
the strength that speaks of forgiveness
In my kiss you will find
the sweetness that speaks of hope
I will be here through
all of your darkness and your light
as you are for me and
in the thunderous silence
we feel all we need to hear.

I stand on the threshold of a new day
carrying with me the pain of yesterday’s wounds
the thoughts of past mistakes
the memories of broken dreams
and unanswered prayers
In this one perfect moment
I see the black horizon
change
Grow lighter
become clear
A cool breeze caresses my face
A bird sings
In this one perfect moment there are
no thoughts
no memories
no pain
no words
Only a nothingness
filled to overflowing
In this one perfect moment
I know the joy
of being reborn
Innocence once lost
is reclaimed
And in this one perfect moment
I am no longer aware where the dawn begins and my soul ends.
